"Calling all designers, developers, information architects, project managers, writers, editors, marketers, and everyone else who makes websites." A List Apart calls again to make all the disciplines involved in creating websites, as part of a survey information on their job titles, salaries and work situations. Last year took nearly 33,000 people participated, the collected data were summarized in a report 81seitigen that allows very interesting insights into the commercial landscape around the Web. Apart from the UK was in Europe last year's survey, unfortunately, hardly represented. As the situation in the English-speaking countries can not be directly transferred to the local conditions, it would be great if the European participation this time much more would turn out: Some information given (anonymously) and receive a very valuable analysis of the collected data. A fair deal, I think.

presentations of three case studies

Concrete cases are always looking for the information architecture and difficult to find. By an entry in the extremely well-maintained blog regularly The Hot Strudel Jan Jursa, I came across the videos of the presentations by three examples in the content management arena this year's CeBIT. Patrick Roelofs, former Head of Information Architecture team at Tribal DDB in Hamburg and now co-owner of the agency eparo presents parts of its work for Volkswagen, presents Markus Stolze, consultant and project manager at the BTC his experiences from a project with the utility EWE and Bernhard web from the start, and Rolf Schulte radio.de report Strathaus of eparo of their cooperation. The whole is framed by a presentation of the conferences very active Matthias Müller-Prove, in which he introduces the methods of information architecture briefly, and a final discussion of all the presenters to the question "Is the user-centric design approach for each website useful? "which I actually thought that they no longer under discussion.
The talks are apparently on a rather less skilled audience, the substantive complexity has therefore very limited. Who wants to know, however, as colleagues and how they work so their work present, which was to invest for a moment of his time.

138 presentations of the Changing the Change Conference

Changing the Change From 10 to 12 July was held in Turin, the conference Changing the Change . In 138 lectures, standings and results from different areas of current design research were presented which were assigned to one of the topics Visions, Proposals and Tools . The papers are already fully online, but there are currently (intended or not intended) no adequate overview. A Contents is available as a PDF file available to the individual papers to choose, you have within the URL http://www.allemandi.com/cp/ctc/book.php?id=1 the ID by hand to edit with the ID of the URL, unfortunately, does not match the table of contents.
Since it would take because of the amount for a while until I really all posts should at least read across, I call, as usual, that generally, this time a personal favorite, but refer to the postal Changing the Change - A Call to Action by Mark Vanderbeeken on Core77 in which he is a little guidance to offer.

Minimalism

Last month, this year's winners of the Cannes Lions were celebrated, including in the Cyber Lions category . In addition to very large multi-channel campaigns, such as new to the album Year Zero by Trent Reznor aka Nine Inch Nails, which was handle a Grand Prix thoughtful to me is the least noticed with gold excellent Minimalism site of Mini. There, the user technical features in a very simple form, are explained. Unusual thing is that the user has the length of the presentation may determine. According to the chosen time period between 1 and 60 seconds to explain the different topics in varying detail. It works quite well, as long as one does not select less than 10 seconds, in most cases you can learn the basics.
I personally believe that playing the face of increased bandwidth scalability of information on the Web an increasingly important role. First, in terms of the level and duration, on the other, also with regard to the nature of the media. The Skip button to skip the intro animation on most product websites is there no more than a pretty long standing start, as well as the choice between flash and animation or purely textual presentation of the same website. The site of mini is at least an indication of the direction in which to develop the scalability of information.
